About Neighborhood Music School

Our History

Neighborhood Music began in 2012 from the personal home of its founder, Skye Barker-Maa. We now operate out of the Stanley Marketplace, a community of 50+ locally owned businesses.
We grew exponentially during the pandemic, and we were proud to provide an escape through music during what was, for many, a challenging few years. Most recently, we have grown into a base of over 700 students of all ages and backgrounds with a faculty of 25+ accomplished musicians.

Our Music Teachers

We are lucky to have a faculty of teachers that are well-versed in music of all levels and styles, including jazz, classical, blues, rock, pop, and more!
Our music teachers range from Denver School of the Arts alumni to touring and gigging musicians. This means our students will gain a unique perspective throughout their time learning with us – and may even have the opportunity to see their teachers perform live!

Our Mission

Our team at Neighborhood Music believes that everyone should have access to the arts, and we are committed to serving the Central Park and Aurora communities. We believe that, no matter how long you continue your musical education for, the lessons and skills you learn will remain with you for years to come. Our goal is to both set your student up for success and to help create thoughtful and vibrant individuals through the experience of music education.
